「梅子林間再一行，遊遊不覺到茅坪，
    迴環聳翠多奇景，黃竹山高不必驚。
    石壟仔是定行蹤，直上昂坪捉地龍，
    回首馬鞍山頂望，居然人在廣寒宮。」
 
《圍名歌》撮錄一段，點出了五條西貢和馬鞍山一帶深山中，二三百年前散落著的客家村莊：梅子林，黃竹山，茅坪，昂平，石壟仔，這些村舍和阡陌田野都是由古道連接起來。

時代巨輪下，上世紀因交通及水土問題，這些村落陸續被遺棄，古道也漸埋在草莽中，頹垣與磴道成了山中遺世的一片幽深美景。

V10 - 青梅竹馬 - 13公里的實體賽事，遊歷石砌古道，穿越客家古村，在青蛙石俯瞰滄海桑田的沙田一帶，將 青蛙石/梅子林/黃竹山(新村)/馬鞍山串成：青．梅．竹．馬的路線。
 
隨著城巿發展延伸至郊野邊陲，古道村落遺跡和周遭的風景可能永不復再。
 
賽事起終點就在交通方便的大水坑港鐵站旁，趁世事變遷之前，一齊邊踏青邊懷古。

There were 5 Hakka villages dotted in the Sai Kung - Ma On Shan mountainous areas, with a thriving agricultural population that grows rice and sugar cane, and a network of ancient boulder paths connecting the villages. Then came 20th century and these villages were abandoned due to urban development (or the lack of) and changes in water and soil condition, leaving the houses in ruins and the paths overgrown. The race takes you on a 13km Ancient Boulder Trail historical tour, through 4 of these villages on the secluded hills around Ma On Shan – an area threatened with urban sprawl and development of country park peripherals. The race ends near Frog Rock, a rock formation that gives an open view to the mouth of Shing Mun Valley in Sha Tin.  Starts and ends conveniently at MTR Tai Shui Hang.
